How did this IIM topper crack CAT in 4 months

 CAT 2017

Getting 99 percentile does not necessarily mean that you should study for 16 or 18 hours a day. CAT toppers studying at IIMs prefer the smart way of preparation instead of devoting more time with less output. Candidates with right preparation strategy have been able to crack CAT with 3-4 months of intensive preparation in the revised CAT exam pattern that contains 3 sections and 100 questions.
With his time bound and focused preparation plan in right direction, Amritansh Ahuja, a student of IIM Kozhikode made it a point to crack CAT with high score of 99+ with his 4 months of preparation plan. The way he prepared may not be exactly followed by all the CAT 2017 aspirants, but it could be an eye opener for those candidates who think that it is not possible to crack CAT in such a short period and get disheartened due to which they lose the race even before they begin it.
Amritansh cracked CAT exam with 99.26 percentile. He completed his B.E. in Electronics, Instrumentation and Control from Thapar University and had 17 months of work experience with TCS before joining IIM Kozhikode. His academics were also good enough to score bonus points awarded for academic profile by IIMs. Amritansh scored 86% marks in class 10; 92.4% in class 12 and 78.2% in bachelor’s degree. His CAT percentile was 99.26.

5 Reasons why to take MAT 2017 before CAT 2017, XAT 2018, NMAT 2017, SNAP 2017, IIFT 2017

Why there is a need to appear in Sept MAT 2017 exam when after 2 months CAT 2017 leading to all the top B-schools including IIMS will be held on November 26? This can be a common but intrinsic query by the aspirants of all the national level MBA entrance exams.
The key reasons why you should take MAT and treat it as important exam before all other exams are shared by the CAT/XAT expert Prof S K Agarwal, expert on CAT 2017 and XAT 2018 preparation.
MAT 2017 September exam can be treated as windfall for the MBA aspirants going to appear in CAT 2017, XAT 2018, SNAP 2017 and IIFT 2017 entrance exams. Moreover, since most of the national MBA entrance tests namely CAT 2017, XAT 2018, SNAP 2017, NMAT 2017 will be conducted as computer based online exam, while IIFT 2017 remains a paper based test, both the options to take MAT September 2017 as paper based or computer based online exam are available for the aspirants.
While the September MAT 2017 as paper based test will be held on September 3, the computer based test will be held on September 9, onwards. The Admit-card for MAT exam is available for download from Aug 26 till the exam day.

How to choose amongst MBA entrance exams

 EXAM

How to choose amongst CAT 2017, XAT 2018, NMAT 2017, SNAP 2017, IIFT 2017

Now, with the exam dates for all the national level MBA entrance tests announced, candidates are contemplating which 2-3 exams they should write since it is difficult to appear in all the MBA entrance exams. It is of utmost importance to choose the best fit exam which can offer you best suitable MBA admission opportunity in desired B-school.
It is recommended by past toppers of CAT, XAT, IIFT and other exams not to write all the exams. Instead select the ones that suit your will to prepare, based on the difficulty level in the exam that you can overcome, your key strengths and the desired B-school. For example, if you are not interested in doing MBA in International Business, there is no point to write IIFT 2017 entrance test for MBA (IB) 2018-20. But if you wish to excel in International Business only, you need to choose only those exams through which you can get the best B-schools offering MBA (IB) programmes whether it is IIFT, IIMs or others.
Not only this, the more exams you target, the bigger hole will be there in your pocket as none of the MBA entrance exams would cost you less than Rs.1500/-. Writing more than 3 exams means to shell out not less than Rs.4500/-. On the top of it, you need to add the travelling, lodging and boarding expenses for the exam day.

CAT 2017 Exam pattern to benefit second timers

 CAT Registration

CAT 2017: Exam pattern to benefit second timers more; may get edge in IIMs shortlist

Equipped with last year’s CAT exam experience, the second timers going to appear in CAT 2017 will get an edge over their peers to crack the exam with high scores given the fact that CAT 2017 exam stays on exactly the same pattern as that of last year.
Accordingly, CAT 2017 may prove to be more advantageous for the second chance takers as they have the experience of taking a revamped and modified CAT last year. Clarifying about the CAT 2017 exam pattern, Prof Neeraj Dwivedi, Convener CAT 2017 and faculty at IIM Lucknow has already shared in the media release that ‘the duration of the test will be 180 minutes. There will be three sections:  Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, Section III: Quantitative Ability.’
Sharing further the salient features of CAT 2017 expected type of questions, Prof Dwivedi informed ‘Some questions in each section may not be of multiple choice type. Instead, direct answers will have to be typed on the screen. The tutorials will clearly explain this. Also, we will allow use of basic on-screen calculator for computation. Candidates will be allotted exactly 60 minutes for answering questions in each section and they cannot switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section.’ This exam pattern is exactly on the same lines as that of 2016 CAT exam conducted by IIM Bangalore.
