CAT 2019, the Common Admission Test will be conducted by IIM Kozhikode on Sunday
November 24, 2019 in two separate sessions. This year many changes have been
introduced in the exam for the benefit of test takers. CAT is the largest MBA
entrance exam for admission to their MBA/PGDM programmes in 20 IIMs, FMS Delhi,
MDI, SPJIMR, IMI, IMT, IITs, IISCwho also accept CAT as the basis for admission
to their management programmes apart from the Indian Institutes of Management.
More than two lakh
candidates are expected to appear in CAT 2019 to explore admission opportunity
in MBA programmes offered by IIMs and other top B-schools. There are 157 cities
and more than 400 venues where the exam will be conducted.

CAT is a computer based MBA entrance test of three hours duration with
100 questions divided in three sections and has an individual time limit of one
hour for each section.TCS is the testing partner of IIMs in conducting CAT Exam.
The division of 100 questions in CAT exam is - 34 from Quantitative
Ability (QA); 34 from Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC); and 32
from Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
There are two types of questions in CAT exam. There are 70 to 74 MCQs
with 1/3 negative marking and 26-30 Non-MCQs without negative marking. While
there are 4 answer options for each MCQ, there is no answer option for Non-MCQ
in CAT. You need to type the correct answer on the computer screen.
CAT 2019: Expected difficulty level
Common Admission Test is a
highly competitive and most important MBA entrance exam in India. The
difficulty level of CAT is considered moderate to high.
CAT Exam Scoring Pattern
Each correct answer in CAT 2019
will be awarded with 3 marks. The raw score obtained in CAT is converted to
scaled score and then converted to percentile score after allowing for equating
and normalizing the scores for both the sessions in CAT.
IIMs and other top MBA
colleges consider percentile awarded in CAT to shortlist the candidates for
final selection round.
